This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students come from all walks of life but my classroom is one thing that is consistent in their lives. Each one of them is unique and they each have a story to tell. When they enter the classroom they are a part of a community that encourages and fosters growth. They are challenged daily to give their best when they enter my classroom. It is my goal that every student will increase their reading levels by a minimum of two levels. I envision my students having access to reading materials that reflect the diversity of learners I teach. When students see how what they learn is applicable in real life, they tend to make more connections with the concepts and develop a love of learning
I would like to provide more flexible seating in my classroom with these plastic stacking stools. We work in small groups during guided reading instruction and guided math groups each day. More of my students can fit around my table with these stools! Currently, we have 6 chairs that fit around the table but we could fit 8 stools.
The stools could also be used in various centers around the room! These stools are bright and colorful, promote collaboration with classmates, and can easily stack to promote organization in a small space!
We are hoping this project gets funded so we can begin using the stools right away and for many years to come!
