Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project funds a sensory table for an early childhood classroom. The sensory table will be filled with material that stimulates all 5 senses, such as sand, water or water beads, rice or dirt.

This experience will help support the healthy development of young children.

Research has shown that technology from a young age can influence a young person's sensory development, and indeed that has proven true in the classroom. Many students show significant sensory needs. Those needs often come out in behaviors such as breaking classroom supplies for the sensory input. This table will provide a healthy way for students to meet their sensory needs, so they can fully attend to and participate in the challenging academic instruction in their classroom. Supporting a student in their development of sensory, gross and fine motor skills will in turn help a student reach their full academic potential. This will make a difference in a child's life for years to come.
