My students are energetic and full of hope! Their minds are ready to be inspired and they are continuing to prepare themselves for their future endeavors.
These young scholars continue to come to school and persevere; they are truly inspirational!
The area in which my students reside is a high mobility area meaning that many of these brilliant minds have been relocated countless amounts by the time they get to 6th grade. Stability and a positive environment are two very important traits my students seek.
My Project
Having flexible seating; or a variety of seating options in my classroom will lower anxiety and stress of school and even tackling math class. 6th grade is already a rough year for many students and to add on to that the area in which my students reside comes with a lot of trauma and stress in many of these children's lives.
Having a comfortable classroom environment with the help of flexible seating will be on of the few stable things that my students have in their day.
These children need anything they can to ensure that they remain at ease and focused in order to come to school ready and content to learn.
Some of the flexible seating options that I have requested in my project include colorful fruit floor pillow cushions, a u-table for small group work with the teacher, a variety of stools for students to sit up and feel greater and important, bouncy ball chairs for focus, a rug for students who choose to sit or lay on the floor and two bean bag style chairs for a cool down area.
