My students attend a small, charter middle school made up of children from a variety of backgrounds and communities throughout our region. Some attended elementary school together but quite often our new 6th graders don't know any of their classmates. My classroom is made up of some amazingly inquisitive, creative, and socially interactive 6th through 8th graders. These students play extra-curricular sports and participate in after-school sports clubs.
As most typical middle school students, my students love the opportunity to socialize with their peers.
With that in mind, I try to provide the opportunity for group learning and interaction as often as possible. Through these opportunities to work together with their peers, students have formed close bonds with their classmates and in doing so are able to enhance their middle school experience.
My Project
Squatting is sometimes referred to as the King of All Exercises because it requires engaging your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves, but requires core strength and balance. It also has many practical applications to our daily lives, including getting on and off a chair, picking something up, or moving heavy objects.
A squat rack is a piece of gym equipment that is adjustable in height and holds an Olympic barbell so it can be used to perform back squats, push press, front squat, and etc.
This is essential equipment for our school to have in order for our students to build a strong fundamental strength in a safe way.
