Spy Science for City Spies Fans

Help me give my students spy kits, spy-themed party favors, and spy-related party supplies for our City Spies Book Launch Party!

My Project

STEM and science games and activities play a large role in scientific inquiry and learning. What is a better way to learn science than to explore it through play? Inspired by the book series City Spies by James Ponti, we will host a book launch Spy party for the newest book in the series Book #5: Mission Manhattan which releases in February 2024. Channelling the energy of Harry Potter book releases from back in the early 2000s, students will be able to celebrate reading and play through STEM inquiry by participating in STEM party games at our book launch Spy party.

Spy games will be posted around the room as students move from station to station exploring different spy crafts; students will play in order to solve the mystery of who stole the City Spies books from the library.

This will be our very first book launch party, and I love that we can connect the book launch and literacy to STEM and scientific inquiry. Students will have to decipher hidden messages and examine clues. They will learn about fingerprints and have to examine print smudges to glean the identity of the book thief.
