Sprucing Up The Village

Help me give my students bright lights and beautiful surroundings to breathe life into our space with a newly redecorated classroom to learn, grow, and improve health and wellness.

My Project

Our school was built in 1961 and our classroom looks and feels a little lackluster. We need to breathe life back into our village. To make our classroom more vibrant and inviting we need a few materials to "spruce up our village." Our writing center needs new markers, clipboards for writing around the room, and a clipboard holder for organization. The bulletin board paper and border will be used to decorate our boards. Lighting is therapeutic, so we will lace the LED lights around the border of our whiteboard to brighten things up and create a calming effect.

Engaging in social-emotional learning is part of our daily routine, not just a series of isolated lessons.

Liquid sensory floor tiles allow students calming, yet soothing experiences. The vibrant colors encourage sensory processing while reducing overstimulation. Using digital technology is embedded in our daily lessons and the students love it! the learning management system that we use is compatible with digital downloads on TPT. Often, I find resources on Teachers Pay Teachers to supplement SEL and Writing lessons. A TPT gift card will allow me to invest in these resources.

Our class is all about optimizing and thriving in a well-organized environment. Labeling is important for organizing, therefore, the labeler allows me to label and organize the pocket organizers and other items easily. Our reading nook needs some comfortable seating so we opted for bungee chairs and a nice rug in that area to feel comfortable and cozy. I like to be fully engaged while teaching, so having an adjustable table allows me to have more flexibility to walk around or stand when teaching. I need a stationary area to place my laptop while actively teaching. An adjustable table, for both me and my students, would be beneficial for delivering presentations.
