Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students at our school are learning to code and enjoying the nontraditional courses provided through my pathway. They are always talking about how they love the ability to work outside of the standard classroom and use their creativity. The students are different in the way that they want to see what goes into creating the games that they enjoy to play. That's what I love most about them is that they are not afraid to use their creative minds in my class.

My Project

I teach a 3-course pathway that in the third course leads to coding. I want to show my first-year course how fun and interesting coding can be and what better way than through something that is like a game. I have seen Sphero SPRK+ around before and have seen how students start to enjoy coding by being able to see what happens through the Sphero.

I want my students to learn to enjoy coding and have fun with it through something that they can physically hold.

This will also spark interest to continue my program and see what else you can do and what jobs you can have through coding.
