My Project
The best way to teach compassion is to show compassion! To start the school year, I want to teach my students the expression "put yourself in their shoes." This is a great way to kick off the lesson of compassion because my students will understand how others feel. Therefore, my students will make stress-free bags for their peers. In the beginning of the school year, students may feel nervous, shy, stressed, or excited so these bags will help my students to show compassion that everyone is in the same boat. My class will kick off this sprinkle compassion project to hopefully spark another class to give back to the school community. First, my students will get a bag and they will pick a stress-free tool in the bag, a jolly rancher, life saver, and a treat. This is a great way to show compassion to help with stress. After, my students will have the opportunity to express how this experience helped them with understanding compassion. Also, my students will have the chance to reflect on what future projects do that want to accomplish in the school year. By sharing their reflections, they can continue to inspire compassionate service projects!
