My students need an updated listening center that plays CDs as well as digital books. My class also needs a variety of office supplies, including a laminator and paper storage.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students

Reading is an important part of our daily routine in my classroom. I hope to instill a love of reading in each and every one of my students.
The children in my class all live in the vicinity of the school located in the south Bronx.
It is an area of low-income households and many of my students do not have appropriate resources at home. There is a great feeling of community in our school. I feel that my school does a great job keeping the parents connected and involved.
My Project
The listening center I've ordered with this project will provide children the opportunity to read together, listening to books on an iPod and books on CD. Listening to audio books helps to build sight word vocabulary as well as models phrasing and fluency in reading.
I've also ordered items that will help organize classroom materials. The laminator will help make games and task cards for activities. I've made several games to be used for math and literacy. Laminating the cards for the games will make them last infinitely longer than if not. The children love playing these games, they hardly believe that they are learning at the same time!
Donations to this project will help to provide a rich learning environment in my class.
The listening center will help foster the students' independence and love of learning.
This is my first year teaching in the New York City public school system. Teachers spend years gathering supplies and items to make their classroom just right. With the generosity of donors such as you, my classroom is quickly becoming a the classroom of my dreams.
