Springing Into Action In the First Grade

My students need 19 book titles to be able to experience new types of literacy. We love to read and many of these books will interest my students, including "Gingerbread Baby", "Draw Me a Star" and "A Baby Lobster Grows Up".

My Students

I currently teach first grade in a Title I school. My students love getting new books for the classroom. To them being able to experience a new book opens up new worlds that they may never get to experience in real life.

My students are very active and energetic first graders.

I know that they would love having these books because I recently conducted a survey to see what kind of new books they would like me to try to find for the classroom. Because many of these students have very little at home they eager await new items or books we receive for the classroom.

My Project

Research proves that the more a child reads the more successful they will become in life. Studies have also shown that the students in classrooms filled with books are more academically successful. My students need 19 book titles to be able to experience new types of literacy. We love to read and many of these books will interest my students, including Gingerbread Baby, Draw Me a Star and A Baby Lobster Grows Up. These books will be a great addition to our growing classroom library and bring new knowledge to my students.
