Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In order to foster creativity and allow freedom of choice in writing one must have the proper materials! My students have the ideas in their heads they now need the materials at the ready!

The students you will be donating to are a very special bunch.

My class is a 12:1:1 setting meaning they have academic, social, emotional and physical disabilities. Their disabilities range from speech and language impaired, autism, emotionally disturbed, health impairment, and learning disabled. They are very energetic and very busy which is why we are known as the "busy bees". My students inspire me everyday because even though they have cognitive or health impairments they are still full of life and have beautiful and joyful spirits.

My Project

I am requesting a storage unit to serve as our writing center base. Part of being a writer is having choice and with this unit I will be able to have several different types of paper and materials (colored pencils, regular pencils, glue, scissors, arts and crafts) out and at their disposal to inspire their creativity. This unit will also be very beneficial in my classroom because it will keep all our materials neat and tidy in one area. It is New York City after all and space is at a premium!

My students have recently become very excited about writing and I want to encourage that development by giving them the materials they need to express themselves at their finger tips.

With your help my students will have they tools they need to help them learn, grow and perhaps even one day become an award winning author!
