Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is located in a highly urban area and many of our students do not have sufficient opportunities to engage in activities surrounded by nature on a regular basis. Fortunately, our school garden provides this space for them to explore, learn, and enjoy nature right here in the city. I would love to give these pre-kindergarten students the opportunity to spend more time outdoors, learning, exploring, and growing in their very own school garden.

Your donation to this project will support the development of observation, classification, quantification, prediction, interpretation, and communication--critical 21st century skills every scientist needs to be successful.

Students love to explore creepy crawly insects. The magnifying jars will give the students the opportunity to collect, count, observe, sort, and classify bugs and insects found right here in our very own school garden. The sunflower kits and gardening tools will provide opportunities for students to grow, observe, make predictions about, and interpret the life cycle of a sunflower. Together, these tools will get students outside learning, communicating, and developing critical skills that every scientist needs to be successful.
