This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our middle school is an amazing and loving Title I middle school in the Eastside of San Jose. I am a product of this school district and even attended this school. The school has around 500 students in grades 6-8. Our community is truly a beautiful and close-knit community. Our students are great and are moving forward with learning successfully regardless of the difficulties they face each day. I am very proud of our students!

My Project

I am the leadership teacher at the middle school I work at. I am in charge of organizing all of the school events for our school community. Since our students have gone through so much, from the shutdowns to having to quarantine at home for weeks, I want to provide all of our students with a fun event!

I want to organize a great dance where students feel safe, comfortable, and encouraged to hang out with their friends outside of school.

Therefore, we want to purchase items such as the plastic barrier in order to create an enclosed dance area in the quad for our students. We also want to pass out goodie bags that include chips, candy, glow rings, and tattoos. We are asking for balloons, poster paper, a photo booth, and more in order to decorate for our dance. We also listed stamps and face painting kits so we can use them during the dance. I believe that with this dance, and all the fun things we have planned for it, our students will have an amazing and stress-free time!
