There is no other time in a child's schooling that they undergo more changes, physically, emotionally, and socially - 7th grade is this time. The students in my classroom are beginning to understand that relationships are important, complex, and the basis for learning.
Empathy and relationships are the foundations for our classroom.
This is an environment where we strive to find our passions and uncover our potential. Reading will open these doors and help them find their passion and complete their reading goals.
My Project
These titles have all been selected by my students and they can't wait to read them. We all know reading books improves memory, increases critical thinking skills, and improves imagination. But did you know it can make you healthier?
Nearly one in five teens suffers from stress and reading a book can relieve stress better than taking a walk or listening to music.

According to studies, losing yourself in books, especially fiction, may even increase your empathy. Various researchers have shown that people who were “emotionally transported” by a work of fiction experienced a boost in empathy. By reading a book, you become part of the story and feel the pain and other emotions of the characters. This, in turn, allows your mind to become more aware of how different things affect other people. Eventually, this improves your ability to empathize with other people. Help make my students more empathetic!
