I teach third grade in an elementary school in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Our school is a title one school, where all our kids get free lunch and come from low income families. The children are studying about living things. They have become so interested in learning about different animals, their life cycles and how each animal lives differently, you can see the enthusiasm in their little faces. For the Spring, I would like to show them the life-cycle of a butterfly. The children can actually learn and see the butterfly go through its life cycle changes. It would be a great experience for them to watch as they learn with the live Butterfly Pavilion from Insect Lore. To enhance the butterfly project, I'd like to use Insect Lore's Butterfly library books, as well as the video on the life-cycle of the butterfly.
