This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in my classroom love hands on activities, especially if they are science related. I would like to grow plants and watch the life cycle of a butterfly with my special education class this spring. They will be involved in every aspect of both projects.

There are so many skills that can be incorporated into both of these activities.

My students will be able to care for living things and learn about what they need to survive. We can compare what plants and insects need, to what we need as humans to survive.

Our final unit in the modified curriculum we use is titled "Plants in Gardens and Fields." Completing these projects will align perfectly with our May unit. Students will be excited and engaged in both growing plants and raising butterflies.
