My Project

My students are all young adults over the age 18 with disabilities. They attend a public school in Chicago, IL where their curriculum focuses on vocational and functional life skills. Our school strives to prepare students for life after graduation that align with their career interests and functional daily needs. Some of our classes include sorting and stocking produce at a local food pantry and performing custodial skills at restaurants and animal shelters. We also visit grocery and retail stores and practice navigating the space, locating items, using a budget, etc.

We rely on a variety of resources to shape instruction and support the needs of our students.

Every so often these resources need to be replenished or updated. Snacks help with morale and support for diabetic students. Erasable chalk helps me teach students how to clean windows and mop floors. Caddies help students organize their supplies and take responsibility for their care and management. Cross body bags help students independently store their money while they navigate the grocery store. I greatly appreciate you considering a donation to this project.
