Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Ramadan and Eid are holidays celebrated by 1.6 billion of the world's population, but most of my students know little about these festive occasions. This year, we'll read about the traditions in different Muslim countries, adorn our classroom with gold lights and balloons, and count down to a henna party to mark the Eid celebration.

I'm requesting a decorative tray with Arabesque print to serve dates to students on March 22, to mark the beginning of Ramadan.

My classroom is full of newcomers to America from Iraq, Ukraine, and the Caribbean. I'd like an interactive world map for our classroom to mark the countries of origin of these students. This way, we can pay homage to our roots and marvel at the courage of our young classmates. I'm also requesting books that feature brave female protagonists, such as Anne Frank, to inspire and expand our worldview.
