This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are happy, energetic learners who love to learn! They are diverse in their learning and possess unique personalities that keep them going everyday. They have encountered a few setbacks in their learning so far but they are slowly getting the appropriate support they require to continue learning.
My students are at-risk students with special needs who qualify for free and/or reduced lunches.
They are all reading at least one full reading level below grade level, and in some cases, more. They have encountered learning challenges along the way but are steadily showing progress. They are bursts of energy just waiting to blossom!
My Project
These headphones will allow my students access to their online books that are at their just right reading levels. Using headphones allows each of them to read along or just listen to a book at the same time without interrupting each other.
In our special needs classroom, which is composed of 11 students with autism, headsets are particularly important due to students' sensitivity to certain sounds.
Blocking out sounds will help students work independently and stay focused on their reading while the teacher conferences with individual students. These headsets will also help them be productive writers as several of them enjoy listening to calming nature sounds or jazz to promote their creativity.
