My students are 1-2 years below their grade in reading. To help close the reading gap, we will be using guided reading levels. Each student will first be assessed on their independent reading level and will then read books at his/her just-right reading level everyday. We will use "traditional" reading books in class but will also read on-line books through our school's reading program. In a few weeks, when students show progress, they will be reassessed for the next reading level. Additionally, using Chromebooks on a daily basis will give students access to online resources that they otherwise will not have. It would be wonderful if they also had the opportunity to access additional reading programs (aside from our school's reading program) online that will get them excited about reading everyday.
