Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach sixth, seventh, and eighth graders at a magnet middle school that has a mix of magnet and zoned students. I teach technology elective classes that focus on media and design. The majority of my students are from low-income households and from very diverse backgrounds.
My students love technology and being creative.
However, many of these students do not have access to technology outside of school. I try to make opportunities for my students to create projects based on real-world careers in technology and media.
My Project
As students come back to school for a summer enrichment camp, I would like them to help create a welcoming environment for the staff and students in the fall. I am planning to have my students place brightly painted rocks with inspiring images and messages around the school. This small gesture will bring smiles and warmth to those who find them around the school. This project is requesting the high quality markers students need to add details and creativity to their rocks. I am excited to see all of the amazing designs my students make from this project.
