Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As part of our community service initiative, students chose to lead a kindness campaign to create a more positive and inclusive school environment. Many classmates face stress or loneliness, and students wanted to take action that would uplift the entire campus.
This project is fully student-led.
A team of volunteers planned and organized all activities—from making and hanging motivational posters to launching a school-wide “Kindness Challenge Week.” Each day focused on a simple act of kindness, like helping a peer or writing a positive note. Students promoted the challenge through announcements, flyers, and classroom visits.
A highlight of the project is the creation of handmade inspirational cards, distributed anonymously throughout the year. Students manage every step: organizing card-making sessions, designing cards with Cricut machines and vinyl decals, and delivering them to students and staff. These thoughtful gestures help others feel seen and valued.
Through this project, students are not only serving their school community—they're learning leadership, empathy, and the power of small actions. By encouraging a culture of kindness, they’re building connections that extend far beyond our classroom and reminding others that kindness is both impactful and contagious.
