The "Spreading Kindness through Art" project is an idea created by one of my advisory classes. These students come into class sometimes very frustrated with things that other students have said to them or about them either to other students or straight to their faces. It can be very easy to gossip, spread lies, and say mean things to each other on social media and this problem is only getting worse.
Our students at OHS need a way to spread some kindness to each other and pick someone up each day.
This project is a way to try and squish some of the unkindness in people and focus more on the positive. The library will be the base landing for this project collected in the mailbox where students can come in at any part of their day and create a kindness message for someone.
The markers and paper will be used by students to create their own designs and special messages. The laminator will then be used to make this message more of a keepsake that could possibly be used as a bookmark or a locker sign. The organizers and tubs will help to make the materials easily accessible for students and teachers who would like to make a kindness creation.
