Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is a place where students learn how to be safe, respectable, and responsible students. As a teacher at a Title I elementary school, over seventy percent of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. We have substantial number of students who are unable to access technology outside of the classroom. I find there are times my students are not exposed to science and technology outside of the classroom. Over a third of my students are English language learners with Spanish or Vietnamese as their primary language. My students are always eager and ready to be 21st century learners.
Literacy is the key to success!
The school's core lit collection in disrepair due to the age of the books, the wear and tear, and the missing copies. These books will replenish the number of copies lost during COVID-19 quarantine. We need books with topics and genre that spark their interests and instill the love of reading and promote literacy. Introducing different authors and genre will help students discover new ideas, topics, and interests. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
