The students in my classroom all come to school with unique experiences. They are interesting, loving, energetic, and caring. We work as a team to develop a love of learning and make it a place of comfort and consistency.
Our school strives to create and guide lifelong learners and spirited citizens.
I serve in a multi-age classroom with kids aged four to nine. The younger students learn so much from the older students and vice versa. The older students can serve as role models for new students. They work together to teach from their own experiences and concepts they learn throughout the year. The school works to create a love for intergenerational learning across all ages.
My Project
This upcoming year will be my 6th at my school. Throughout these years the items I inherited from the teacher before me, and she inherited from those before her, have been very well loved. Our classroom needs a new carpet for math class!
Next year's class is going to be my biggest one yet, with lots of new kindergarten students learning what it means to be a student.
Kindergarten math is not just fostering a love of working with numbers, but a lot of problem solving and social skills. The polka dot rug will give us enough individual space to help learn personal space. As we learn about what being in school is like the rug will help everyone feel safe and welcome in the room.
