Sportsmatter: Soccer for All

My students need shin guards to play soccer in the fall and spring.

My Students

We are expanding our elementary/middle school athletic program. We are wanting to have soccer in grades 4-8, however we do not have enough equipment. Our school is in an urban neighborhood and most of our families struggle financially to provide the basic needs leaving money for the extras such as sports or sports equipment.

Our students love sports and more want to participate.

Every year, there are always studies that show how classroom behavior, grades, and happiness levels improve for those students who participate in sports, and last year, we saw the same results for the few students who could participate. With your help, we can spread these results.

My Project

"In order to play, students must have shin guards." Our students love to play sports, and soccer is one of their favorites. This year, our school district has decided to expand our sports program and open it to younger students. We are trying to start a 4-5-6 grade soccer team as well as have more students participate in grades 7 and 8. However, we do not have the resources to buy shin guards.

Students who participate in sports are more likely to graduate, do well in school, avoid drug use, and enjoy life.

Our students live in an urban neighborhood where the odds are against them many times when it comes to avoiding the things that are harmful. By helping us put more students in sports, you will be helping our students to not only stay in school but lead more productive and safer lives.
