SportsMatter: Help Bring Softball Back to Our School
My students need bats for softball games and practice since most cannot afford to buy one of their own.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. C.'s classroom raised $822

My Students
I teach at a high school in Gastonia, NC where we are considered a low-income school. Over 85% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch and do not have the funds to buy materials for class or extra-curricular activities.
Our students are some of the best in the county and we need to treat them as such!
The world is changing and so are the students that we teach. It requires new and innovative strategies to help these students explore and reach their potential.
My Project
I want to bring softball back to the Ashbrook community! Ten years ago, we were the best in the league, but it is going to take a lot of hard work to get us back to the top.
I am asking for two team bats for my softball team to use during practices and games.
Most players cannot afford to buy a bat for themselves, so I would like to provide two for the team to use for this season and next. Our funding covers our general needs, but it does not include extras like team bats and our girls could benefit greatly from this opportunity.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
