This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, students at School are being actively challenged with positive social interaction and friend making skills. Being back in the classroom and on campus with masks after a pandemic cannot stop their love of learning, passion to pursue new relationships, and being active in and out of class with their new friends!

Our school has a supportive staff and positive community support for its teachers.

Despite the economic and social challenges that the students face on a daily basis, because of the low socioeconomic area and missing over a year and a half of interaction, it is clear that the parents still want the best for their children by their involvement. While my students are actively challenged by not only their socioeconomic status but also their lack of social skills, they are still coming to class with a positive attitude and are ready to learn. They just need to have the tools available to be as successful outside of class as well as within.

My Project

The sports equipment purchased for students that will be made available during lunch time, will assist students with having something to do with their personal time. Having unstructured time has caused many students trouble in the past.

This time will be more structured and students will be able to build positive relationships with their peers while being able to actively engage in a physical activity of their choice with their friends.

Children who participate in physical activity enjoy improved relationships and a more positive body image. Because inactive teens become inactive adults, it is important to start healthy habits now and find an interesting activity for the student to invest in with their friends during their social time.
