My Students
I teach a wonderful group of sixth-grade students in a high needs school in Charlotte, North Carolina. About 60 percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many students do not come prepared to class and it is very disheartening to me.
My students come in eager to learn with the materials that we have provided to them.
The teachers at our school go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure every child's need is met. The teachers want students to be successful and ready to learn every day.
My Project
Each day, I take the students outside in a designated area to have planned physical activity. Students need an organized way to exert some of their energy. Daily exercise is essential for healthy living. The benefits of exercise include: having stronger muscles and bones, a leaner body, being less likely to become overweight, decreasing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and possibly lowering blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels. Lastly, exercising enables students to have a better outlook on life.
My intention is to provide all of my students with the ability to use footballs, soccer balls, kickball, skipping ropes, tug of war and sidewalk chalk during this planned physical activity.
I would like to ensure that my students have a variety of different games for them to play while we are outside. These sporting gear supplies will be used by both boys and girls.
