This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will bring a collection of Halloween- and fall-themed picture books into our school library.

Our youngest readers love silly, slightly spooky tales that make them giggle and give them just the right amount of shivers.

Stories like Creepy Sheepy and Scary Shark: A Jaw-some Halloween turn Halloween night into an adventure full of laughter rather than fear. Trick or Treat, Bugs to Eat offers a playful, rhyming romp that’s perfect for building language patterns, while Monster Hands invites kids to move, act, and imagine along with the story.

It’s Time for Día de los Muertos celebrates a holiday that is deeply meaningful to many of our families, while Orión y la Oscuridad helps children face their fear of the dark and ensures that our bilingual families have access to engaging seasonal stories in their home language. With sweet and magical titles like Aggie and the Ghost and Millie Fleur Saves the Night, students will discover that books can be both comforting and enchanting.

These stories will be read aloud in the library, shared in classrooms, and available for families to check out and enjoy together at home. They will help us celebrate Halloween and Día de los Muertos in a way that’s fun, inclusive, and meaningful for our young learners. Best of all, the excitement of these seasonal reads will stay with them long after October ends.
