This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fabulous 7th graders are gearing up for their textile art unit and we need your help! We are in need of some interesting patterned fabric, fabric squares, and other necessities like embroidery hoops!

My school is a Title I school which means most students came from families that are qualified for free or reduced school lunch, which also means we have very limited budget to work with throughout the year.

This textile unit will not only focus on developing essential life skill (sewing, quilting), we will also look to iconic quilt artists such as Dawn Williams Boyd, Faith Ringgold, and Carolyn Mazloomi for inspirations on using quilt to tell powerful stories.
