This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

For this project, students of almost all ages will benefit system-wide! My tennis students range from 6th to 12th grade for JV and Varsity tennis. A significant portion of my students are military dependents, and there are also many students attending school here who are from lower socioeconomic brackets. I enjoy writing projects that will enhance the learning environment and/or sporting environment.

My Project

This year is going to be one of my most challenging as a tennis coach. I lost all of the tennis players who had actually played before (except for 1), so almost all of my team this season will be new to the sport of tennis. I completed Level 1 PTR tennis certification, and this training program taught me that "newbies" need a different progression of tennis balls before going straight to the bouncy normal balls.

Sponge-style tennis balls are the perfect training tool for beginner-level tennis players!

I have used these very successfully in the past, but with an entire group of "newbies" coming on board, I'll need to increase my inventory of this kind of tennis ball.
