Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a Title I school where 77.2% of students come from low-income backgrounds. My transitional kindergarten class includes both general and special education students with a wide range of strengths and needs. For many of them, this is their very first classroom experience. I aim to create a structured, engaging, and inclusive environment that nurtures curiosity and fosters a lifelong love of learning.

To support their development, I am requesting a collection of water play materials to establish an outdoor sensory center.

These tools will give my students hands-on opportunities to explore, imagine, and learn through play.

Outdoor sensory play is especially beneficial for young children and students with special needs, as it encourages movement, self-regulation, and collaborative exploration. The Lakeshore Giant Economy Sand & Water Table and Water Play Kit will invite scientific discovery, promote fine motor development, and support sensory regulation. The Magnetic Fishing Set, Helping Hands Fine Motor Tools, and Design & Build Water Blocks will provide rich opportunities for problem-solving, creativity, and cooperative play. The Jumbo Farm Animals and Jumbo Domestic Pets will also enhance imaginative water play and storytelling.

These carefully chosen materials will help build foundational cognitive, social, and emotional skills in a natural, play-based setting. By incorporating water play into our outdoor classroom, I can create a learning environment where every child, regardless of ability or background, feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow.

My students are resilient, creative, and eager to learn. With your support, we can bring joyful, sensory-rich learning experiences to life and ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
