My Project
During the last three weeks, I have had the pleasure of watching my preschoolers interact with the people, things, and places that make up our classroom. During that time, I have noticed three particular areas of interest to them: constructing elaborate structures in the block center, caring for our growing seedlings and garden, and expressing their thoughts and ideas in written form.
The materials that I am requesting will help to build on those interest and extend their explorations through other modalities as well as increase access to more hands-on experiences.
The water table will be placed in our garden so that children can enjoy the sensory benefits of water play as well as aid in watering our plants. The wooden letters are aesthetically pleasing and can be used to help spell out special words that they can then write down in letters, journals, notes, and class discussions. The scooping and pouring activities, squish balls, color blocks, and manipulatives will provide more hands-on activities to develop fine motor strength, coordination, and dexterity. Lastly, the round carpet will be placed in the library to help define the space and provide a soft surface for children to sit, lay, and enjoy new and favorite books.
With your help and support, we will be able to foster my preschoolers' inquisitive minds as they continue to ask questions and search for answers about how and what plants need to grow, how to grow their own foods, how to spell words or construct their thoughts into sentences that they can write down, and build their focus as they explore different toys and materials.
