Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kids are special! They live in a high poverty city in California. Many families share homes, and, because of safety issues, there are not many opportunities to go outside and play. They attend a Title I school where there is a free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast program that above 90% of the students use.
I teach 25 kindergarten students in this school.
Most of my students are experiencing their first public school classroom. The children are sweet, smart and enthusiastic. They love to come to school and learn!
My Project
Splash is such a fun game to practice sight words. At the end of school year, when my students were learning from home, I came across this game. We were able to send them home for use during their summer break. The kids were so excited! We had played a similar game ( homemade) with tongue depressors called “Fiddlesticks”. We played the game enough in class for my students to catch on to this game very easily. This version is so much more colorful and therefore more motivating. I guarantee the kids will love this game.
