My Project

My students love working with clay! I am a full time elementary art teacher who is also a part time potter. I have brought groups of students to my home studio space to work with clay. Recently, I decided to bring one of my pottery wheels in to school for the children to work with. They are intrigued by the wheel and are hooked on clay! However, my wheel cannot stay here at school. I want very much to have wheels in my classroom so that more children can experience working with clay in this way. They absolutely love the idea of creating functional pottery that they can share with their families. These wheels also have the possibility of being used in after school programs and in family engagement activities when we welcome families into our school. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to make children and families excited about learning and giving them opportunities that they might not otherwise have in our very rural area.
