My Students
I teach students with special needs in grades kindergarten to third grade. My students have various disabilities including, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disability, cognitive disabilities, social-emotional disabilities, speech impairments, etc.
I love that they are all so different, learn in different ways, have different strengths and weaknesses, and want to learn and explore.
My Project
I will use these items to encourage students to participate in class, engage students, and spice up classroom lessons. These kids had a tough year and a half due to Covid, and I want to make sure that the 2021-2022 school year is a blast.
The magnetic spin wheel will be on the board and used for the incentives that will change.
When students earn a reward, pass a goal, or as an incentive for completing an assignment, or following directions, students will get to spin the wheel, to see what they get. They might get a homework pass, or 10 minutes on an iPad, get to choose the Youtube video for the brain break, prize box, etc.
The tabletop spin wheel will be used to learn words, call students to participate in conversations, pick who gets to go first, set up math problems, etc. There are endless options, and the interchangeable faces will allow me to make so many different activities interactive.
