This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Last year was the first time our school had a boys volleyball team in many years, and it was also my first time coaching volleyball. Though we were newbies to the sport, I was extremely proud of how my boys increased their skills and the amazing performance they did. We might have not been very experienced, but last year we took our experience from the season and learned how to come back stronger this year.
Along with the experience from last year, we also realized we were lacking proper equipment to really build on our skills.
As the season progressed, we realized that we needed more volleyballs so that each player can practice simultaneously, rather than waiting their turns. We also need more nets, that way we can maximize on our practice time and try to minimize lull times where the players were just waiting. Our knee pads also had a lot of wear and tear, so it is time for my boys to get a new set of knee pads to allow them to safely play and hustle while they are trying to make saves!
Lastly, the one thing that really stood out to us is that we were lacking on a "uniform" appearance; that is why a few extra shorts will help my team look more like a team by matching!
These are the things that will definitely help build on team morale and spirit, which in turn translate to a great season for our volleyball team!
