Spikeball Sports Unit

Help me give my students Spikeball Nets for a class spike ball unit. Spikeball is a semi professional/ recreational sport that is rapidly becoming one of the most popular games in America.

My Students

My students are self motivated and excited to succeed in physical education class. Not only do my students work hard but they have fun while staying active. My students are constantly setting new goals and overcoming different challenges. My students come to class eager to learn and ready to participate in a variety of physical activities. My students ultimate goal is to find a type of physical activity or a sport that they truly love. This will encourage my students to live a healthy, happy, and active life long past secondary education.

My Project

The materials will give me the ability to teach a Spikeball physical education unit to my class. Spikeball is a rapidly growing recreational sport in America that many of my students are showing interest in. Spikeball is a combination of the team sport Volleyball and the recess game four square. Four students are able to play at once around each Spikeball net. Having the ability to purchase five of these nets will allow for an entire class to play at once. This allows more time for student task practice, learning of the rules, and more time in general to enjoy and play the game. We are lucky enough to live on Maui and surrounding us in nature are plenty of sandy beaches. Spikeball is often played on the beach and is very enjoyable to play with peers at the ocean. Allowing my students the chance to learn and participate in this Spikeball unit will no doubt encourage students to play on their own time outside of school with friends or family. This will motivate students to stay active while playing a sport that they really enjoy. Eventually I hope to Start a Spikeball Club at our school. Many students have expressed their interest in this popular sport and I hope to provide them with a new, fun, and physically active Spikeball Unit.
