SPIKE Essential-Coding and Robotics for Elementary Students

My Students

Our elementary school students are smart, funny and creative. They love hands-on learning that engages the heart and the mind. In science, they enjoy STEAM activities that include science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. They also love opportunities to collaborate and share ideas. My goal as the STEAM lab educator is to develop creativity, innovation, and critical thinking skills in every student. Through an integrated STEAM curriculum, our students will learn the skills they need to become innovators and future changemakers. Please consider donating to our elementary school science program.

My Project

Our students love science and they especially love opportunities that allow them to be creative and innovative. In the STEAM Lab, hands-on learning is something we do every day. A normal day in the STEAM Lab includes projects where students are encouraged to work together to solve problems, create solutions, and use innovative thinking as they learn about science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. One of the things our students love most is robotics and coding.

This project will provide SPIKE Essential robot and coding kits to encourage young learners to work in teams as they engage in discovery, innovation, inclusion, and teamwork.

These robots will provide our students the opportunity to work in teams as they design and code a robot to navigate guided challenges as a First Lego League Explore team. Through teamwork, they will practice inclusion by listening and respecting the ideas of others, they will use creativity and persistence to solve problems, and ultimately consider actions they can take to make a positive impact on the world in which they live.
