Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Walking into a new classroom brings all kinds of feelings for students and teachers! My students need to feel at home in our classroom that is prepared and suited for their specific learning needs. Our classroom is quite bare and we're looking to jazz it up a bit with new materials.
My students come from a low-income area in New York.
I am so lucky to have the opportunity to teach such a sweet and smart group of children in the Bronx. They attend a small Charter school in the city. They have the privilege of being able to attend a new school- we're just in need of some resources!
My Project
My students will feel at ease in the classroom with the materials I am requesting to start out their year with organization and personalization. With the individual book baggies, my students can take on independence and responsibility of being in charge of keeping up with their books for the week. They will have a special place to put them each day instead of loosing them at home or in their desks. With the charts (behavior and organization) they can monitor their behavior throughout the day. The letters and write and wipe boards will entice students to be more engaged in their learning through centers or group work. This encourages them to work together (and adds a little fun, too).
