This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are creative, hardworking, and eager to learn new things. As the year comes to a close, we are finishing up final units and my favorite units are coming up. At the end of the school year, I have open-ended student choice units where students choose activities from Maker Mats (Choice boards). There are also mini-units where the projects take place over the course of 1-2 weeks rather than 6-8 weeks. STEM Choice boards allow students to demonstrate everything they have learned in STEM and allow for student voice. As part of the choice board, I would like to add robotics and coding. We currently have Dash, Ozobots, Bee-Bots, and mouse bots. I would like to add sphere bots since this will further introduce my students to computer science projects.

The goal of this project is to obtain Sphero bots to teach my students about different ways to code!

My students LOVE coding and now that they have learned about different robots, I would like to build upon their current skills with Spheros. This is a small start but the joy of STEM is that you always start small and gradually build upon what you have. These small spheros are small but will teach my students so many big skills.
