My Students

Our school is unique because it pulls students from both a rural part of town and from the more affluent suburban homes. Many of our students are on free and reduced-price lunch. Our school theme is around superheroes. We have costumes hanging on the walls of the halls and decorating many of the doors. We like to tell our students that they can all be superheroes.

Their special powers are kindness, hard work, and perseverance.

Many of our students had parents or even grandparents that attended our school. While all of the other local schools are undergoing facelifts and construction, our school has not changed since it was built in 1940. It is a special place that feels like a home.

My Project

Our class is always creating and designing obstacle courses for our 3 mini Spheros, however, in a class of 20 or more, kids are constantly waiting for their turn. This Sphero Ollie would allow students to explore new ways to create obstacles for our app-controlled toys.

Robotics is such a wonderful way to engage even the most reluctant learners.

The Ollie is rugged and would allow the students to build larger ramps and rougher obstacles. We also use the Spheros for our family maker night. We need cases to keep them safe.

There are so many ways to integrate Spheros into the class including through coding, problem-solving, critical thinking and teamwork.
