Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive, enthusiastic learners. Each of them comes eager to learn and has grown willing to take on greater academic risks and challenges. My classroom philosophy is focused on building a love for learning and discovery. The students work hard each day to flourish in their own learning while building life skills for their future. I wish to encourage my students by helping them to design and implement a personalized learning journey.
My goal is to provide them with resources for success and limitless opportunities to engage with reading, math, science, and computer science with the best technology and materials available.
Some of the students in my class and throughout our school site may be currently experiencing homelessness and may not have access at home to even basic learning materials.
My Project
The robots will be used as part of our STEM learning center where my students frequently work in collaborative teams to solve challenges. Students love to work together to accomplish the many different goals and challenges set for them. My students enjoy coding with block apps like Scratch as well as working on hands-on challenges. I hope to continue to bring them the most engaging lessons I can through discovery.
Sphero robot balls are sure to take our STEM and coding experiences to another level.
The Sphero robot balls will teach them coding in an tangible way. Students will program and redesign their robot paths and functions until they are satisfied with the final product. Students will document their design processes and projects throughout the design and build process. In addition to the technology and engineering applications, students will participate in literacy activities, practice perseverance while they learn to problem solve, and use the bots to navigate different biomes and environmental maps. The applications are really only limited by our imaginations.
