Speed Stacking for After-School

Help me give my students in after-school an opportunity to explore speed stacking by helping me get a set of cups and timers.

My Students

I work with the after-school program at our school and our students live in an economically challenged area where drug abuse and addiction is rampant. The program provides them with opportunities they might not otherwise have. Often it is hard just to get them to come to school but many come just to be a part of the after-school program.

Each year we try to add new experiences for the children.

With that in mind we would like to provide students with the opportunity to learn how to speed stack cups. This project can make a great difference to the children. They will be improving their eye hand coordination and so many more things.

Every time we begin a new project most of them are excited and look forward to trying them.

My Project

According to their website sport stacking promotes physical fitness and academic learning. A direct quote from their website states, "Students that sport stack on a regular basis have shown increases in test scores and levels of concentration. This is achieved by students using both their right and left sides of their brain." I feel that anything we can do in our after-school program to promote student achievement is a win-win for both the program and the students especially after the past almost two years of covid and learning loss they have suffered.
