My Students

As a speech-language pathologist, I work with students from a variety of different backgrounds with speech and language difficulties. The students I work with often have difficulty saying specific sounds and need direct instruction in order to learn how to say the sounds appropriately. These students have been referred by parents or staff to receive extra help in the area of speech/language.

My Project

Due to school closure, I am not able to provide speech therapy services in person and show my students how to say their sounds. I do not currently have a working laptop with a camera and microphone, therefore I am not able to provide services directly with my students. So far I have been providing students with packets and resources, but in order for them to not fall behind on their speech goals, the students would most benefit from receiving virtual speech therapy. With virtual speech therapy, I would be able to directly explain to them how to produce the sounds, and they can see me produce them myself. With a camera, microphone, and appropriate lighting, I would be able to teach the students what they need to know in order to work on their speech goals, as well as answer any questions they have while they are practicing.
