My Students
I am a speech therapist serving a small school district in the Pacific Northwest. My students are kindergarten through high school age and we work on speech sounds, as well as expressive and receptive language and vocabulary skills.
My students are great and are always so excited to come to speech and see what new and interesting lessons I've prepared for them.
My Project
A selection of engaging picture books and text will allow me to integrate literacy based activities into my speech therapy services. Research tells us that shared reading helps children to develop literacy skills. I will be able to utilize these books for speech sounds, for understanding language conventions, and hopefully, to help develop a love of reading.
Books are a window into other worlds and allow children to grow their understanding of their own lives and the lives of others.
I've done my best to select a wide range of books that will allow me to work on a variety of different speech and language skills and that will appeal to my full range of students.
