Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My little learners are so eager to be at school each and every day. Our favorite things in the classroom are technology, music, play, movement, and art. These five aspects of our daily activities engages their little feet, hands, and huge imaginations!
As special education students with varying disabilities, it is always exciting to see different way in which my students interact with resources around them.
Most of them can be sensitive with sensory activities so having the flexibility of different materials in the classroom gives each student an opportunity to delve into their creative and artistic little minds.
My Project
Many of our students who are in our preschool class come to us with challenges in regards to language and communication skills. Although our program is enriched with language on a daily basis while in the classroom, often parents and families don't know where to start to give the same support at once they leave school.
Speech Pal bags will allow parents and families with the opportunity to extend simple yet meaningful communication skills taught at school, now with their child at home.
The Skip Hop animal bags will make this home activity interesting from the moment they touch the bag. The laminator, laminating sheets, ink, and velcro dots will allow us to make Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) for each bag and each family. The soft books will allow for extension of language through simple pictures and tangible resources to keep our 3 and 4 year olds engaged.
