Speech & Language Therapy Activities to Promote Increased Learning!
My students need these interactive and hands-on activities in order to better understand what they are learning. They benefit greatly from multi-modal learning which includes visual, auditory and tactile supports when possible.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Lange's classroom raised $241

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My speech students have speech-language impairments that vary from stuttering to articulation impairments to receptive/expressive language delays. Many of my students have difficulty expressing themselves both orally and in their written work and benefit greatly from interactive activities and a hands-on approach to learning.
They love being independent, showing what skills they have an what they know.
I enjoy making speech a fun place for them to go. I love to allow occasional games, while still incorporating their speech goals into the session. My students will look forward (even more!) to coming to speech each week. I want them to achieve their speech-language goals in a fun way!
My Project
Students will be using the Look Who's Listening Game to focus on auditory discrimination through the use of minimal pairs, word parts, auditory memory through looking at facts and details in paragraphs and auditory integration by listening for key words and following multi level commands. These are all skills that my students struggle with and being able to use hands-on learning materials will better assist them with internalizing the information. Other listed activities will assist in vocabulary expansion.
My students are always eager and looking for new activities to learn from; they are ready and willing to try new things.
Flash cards are just the trick! Often my upper grade students struggle with reading comprehension skills like cause and effect skills, inferring and summarizing and the workbooks listed will help to strengthen those skills. In addition to these areas, my students' oral language skills suffer from a lack of exposure and explicit teaching of aspects of grammar (e.g., verb tenses) and the flash cards are a fun and multi purpose way to target those skills.
