This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am currently working as a school-based speech and language therapist in an elementary school located in the Bronx, New York. As a speech therapist, I service students with special needs across all grade levels (PreK-5th grade) in order to provide them with the skills and support in order to be successful within their various classroom settings. My team of service providers (OT, PT, and Counseling) works collaboratively to ensure a wholesome learning experience for our students.
My community is filled with diversity as our students come from a multitude of backgrounds and cultural identities that add to the richness of our school community.
This is a Title I school that thinks big and works smartly in order to turn out boys and girls with vision. My students are enthusiastic and eager to learn, which makes learning with them that more fun and worthwhile.
My Project
My project as a speech-language pathologist in the Bronx is to provide my students with the skills they need to be successful adults! I service students with special needs across all grade levels, which include PreK to 5th grade in my current school community. It is my honor to be able to serve in a community that I grew up in myself being born and raised in the Bronx.
My students are eager, creative, and willing to learn, which makes my time with them worthwhile.
We are a school community that appreciates any help we can get. I want to be sure that I am providing a wholesome classroom environment that is enriched with not only academic content but also social-emotional learning components. This will help to ensure that my students are given a well-rounded education that will provide them with the skills to be boys and girls with vision!
